Coming off a wonderful summer vacation, the time has come to start up the blog again. In that regard, we have a special announcement. That's right—we. Dear Ordinary is no longer just a personal blog for Camilla. It's a blog for the Bering Smiths. Michael has been blogging on and off for the last five years, and is now joining the team. To consolidate our expenses and start the fall blogging season in a fresh way, we have canceled his blog and will be gradually importing his last couple years of posts here.
This marks a change in direction in some ways.
First, posts may appear more frequently. With two people, we have the benefit of posting twice as often as we did with one—theoretically. This may not happen, due to busy schedules and general laziness. But hey, you never know.
Second, posts will be written on more topics. Piloting this ship with two captains gives us more waters to explore. Can you say “Fatherhood?” Our daughter Magnolia can't—yet. But this blog can. Keep an eye out for talk of a different breed that Michael can bring to the table.
Third, there is a new blog design. Expect some changes in the next few weeks as we tweak away.
Fourth, we might write some posts together, but a number of them will be written separately. By hearing from both of us, you will get a significant glimpse into our lives, our faith, our parenting, and our silliness. You will get a picture of us. We are very different people, but we are inseparably and unequivocally one. We are convinced this blog can reflect that in a unique way.
Fifth and lastly, this blog will be about us surely, but we would like to be of use to you too. By sharing our faults, stories, life, and faith, we hope to somehow give you hope. We do not pretend to be experts. We are sinners who have been saved by a grace we could not provide. How could we be experts? In the end, we love each other, Jesus, our country Denmark, and our two daughters Magnolia Rose and Anemone Liv. We pray that our ordinary story and our humble words would, by God’s grace, encourage you where you are and further the extraordinary glory of our Savior Jesus.
Welcome to our ordinary life.
